This research assesses the effectiveness of social media as a tool for opening spaces for women
leaders and promoting their full participation in public spaces and decision making on the social
and political levels. It contributes to the available literature by adding the perspectives
of women leaders and their experiences, and including the voices of Jordanian women leaders
through integrating their stories as case studies. It also examines if and how social media has
been effective in enhancing the roles and positions of women in politics or in development
and social change.
